The money has been counted...
I would just like to say a few words to express my gratitude for the support and generosity that I have received from everyone, towards my charity half marathon walk. I completed the walk in 4 hours, 41 minutes & 2 seconds, which is a new (unofficial) world record for a half marathon walk, with a walking aid.
Nearly everyone knows someone who has survived a stroke. It not only affects the survivor but also their family ‘Instantly’ and in most cases, the effects are for life. The Stroke Association help to pick up the pieces and truly are unsung heroes. With sponsorship and other fundraising schemes along with much appreciated help from family & very good friends, I was able to raise a total of £6300.00!
The monies raised will go a long way to enable the Stroke Association to continue their valuable work in supporting survivors and their families, to give them a better quality of life, which is rewarding enough for myself.
I very much hope that with this knowledge, you feel pride in the same way I do. This amount of money could not have been raised without each and every one of you and I feel that saying thank you is not enough to express my feelings, as I am so passionate about this. I will always be indebted to you all and would like to say the biggest THANK YOU!!!, from the bottom of my heart.
Yours thankfully,
Keith Moorby.

My name is Keith Moorby. I am 74 years old and started my working life at the age of 14. I retired from last job as a postman at the age of 68.
I'm raising money for Stroke Association and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a lot or a little. Anything helps. Thank you for your support. I've included information about Stroke Association and my story below.
In the past I have had 4 brain tumours and undergone 6 brain operations but in May 2020, I suffered a haemorrhagic stroke (bleed on the brain). The stroke has left me very weak on the dominant / right side of my body and almost blind in my right eye. This has slowed me down quite a lot but will never stop me from achieving my goals.
I now need to use my rollator (pushchair) to help me walk anywhere outside my own home. While at home, I usually just "shuffle" my body to where I need to be. In the last year I have had 10 hospital visits, including 2 operations on / behind my eye to restore some vision. I also now suffer with chronic kidney disease and in the last year I have had an operation to remove a skin cancer scare from under my left eye.
On Monday 21st June 2021, I will be doing a half marathon walk for the Stroke Association, with the aid of my rollator. Over the years I have raised funds for various charities, mostly prior to my brain tumours.
All my previous charitable events have been endurance test and I think this could be the hardest yet. The sponsored half marathon walk will be accompanied with a mega raffle and silent auction (still in the planning stage). The prize donations are starting to flow in from some very generous people / companies and are all greatfully received. A full list will be posted on the MEGA RAFFLE and SILENT AUCTION links at the top of this page a little closer to 21st June.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and please give generously if you can. I have set my goal high but every penny, no matter how big or small the sponsorship is greatly appreciated and WILL make a difference.
Thank you, Keith Moorby.
